Education Day "06

The premier event of the Champlain Valley Historic Reenactors has been our September encampment in Orwell, Vermont. On Friday at the start of the encampment school groups from the surrounding area visit the site with their teachers for a hands-on, educational field trip. At various stations students learn about different aspects of the American Civil War including medical practices, life in the infantry, cavalry and artillery, drill. In 2009 the we will hold our encampment from September 11-13 on the shores of Lake Champlain in the town of Shelburne, Vermont. In future years we will alternate the event between Orwell and Shelburne.
